It has been a decade since Lab42 was formed and prior to getting fully immersed into the professional accomplishments and career growth, there was an important objective that needed to be fulfilled. It was to create a suitable identity. Arguably one of the most significant events during the early days of the company was how they came up with their name, which for us, was the beginning of our story.
Why "lab”? Because in Chemistry, new things can be made from some basic elements and different chemicals can be termed as ingredients. This analogy for us illustrated how we in the software world put together building blocks of many technologies to create something new.
The other half of the name ‘42’ was borrowed from the science field, particularly astronomy. The founders of the organization were fans of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" film in which the number 42 was conferred the title of the answer to every question human beings had ever had. This is the number which we felt had charms and which would assist in cracking the most complex issues in the IT domain.
As a result, Lab42 became a representation of a beautiful story where Chemistry, Astronomy, and IT development fused to give birth to something phenomenal.
